Cèsar Martinell i Brunet
Description
Winery that becomes a magnificent example of modernist architecture, located in the middle of the Cistercian Route, very close to the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus.
With a wide main façade and two parallel naves, it was designed by the architect of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Joan Rubió i Bellver, who gave its execution to Cèsar Martinell.
For its construction, Martinell had to take advantage of and integrate into the work some wooden trusses from a factory that the Union had bought.
The location of its main entrance, located on a side façade, gives it a unique and differentiating feature, as it is the only modernist winery with this characteristic. Also noteworthy of this façade is the set of canted arch and lowered arch of brick and sardinell and five high and narrow windows that make up the entrance to the building, the ornamentation of its cornice and the rhomboidal openings that we find in the plinth.
